July 2008 SW Colorado Trip

Steve & I took a 17 day trip to SE Utah and SW Colorado in the trailer this summer.

Steve took up running again since I was spending so much time on my bike. This is Goblin Valley, Utah where it was so hot even early in the morning!

We went on a hike around Chimney Rock in Capital Reef National Park. So beautiful!

Most of the trip we stayed at a great campsite just outside of Mesa Verde National Park. Our site was up in the pine trees away from most of the park and it seemed like we were by ourselves. It was a great location to take in so many sites.

We took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gage Railroad up to Silverton and stayed the day. Wow! The scenery is amazing!

I rode my bike from Mesa Verde to Durango and on the way back I had a blow out just 1 mile from where the trailer was. I had to call Steve to come and get me. I rode 67 miles and rode up my first grade 8 incline ride for 7 miles! That was hard! I lost a day of riding because my bike was in the shop for new tires after the blow out. Steve & I went to Durango in the truck the next day and had a picnic in the same park where I rested before returning on my bike the day before.

We hiked almost everywhere possible and took every tour in Mesa Verde. We loved this park. We would love to take grand kids here when they get older.

I rode my bike almost 150 miles during this trip. I love to ride on my new road bike as much as mountain biking. We had such an amazing trip. We love to just get out on the road and see where the wind blows us. Buying this trailer has been the best thing for our family. We have taken it to Seattle twice, Moab twice, many short trips with grand kids, Steve's parents and friends.
